A guide to live music and gigs in the North Staffs area.
Terry Earl Taylor, the Hillbilly Houndog, along with some fine performers, will be playing between 7pm - 10pm at this unusual and intriguing Arts venue, as part of Live Age, a weekend-long series of events, including cinema, lectures, art, poetry (with Roger McGough), cookery, literature, drama, and more...
Terry will be singing and playing 5-string banjo, some harmonica, on original songs and traditional appalachian backwoods laments, midnight music from his cabin on the borderland. He has played live on Country radio in the States, in North Carolina and has been heard on BBC Radios 2's The Paul Jones Show and on Radio 3's Late Junction. He has an album, Another Time, out on Dark Holler Records, USA.
Call his music alt-country, call it americana, or Memphis blues or Bakersfield bar room ballads, or plain old backporch, back roads banjo picking - he don't care, just so long as you enjoy it as much as he does. And yes, you may have seen him playing harmonica, at the Congleton Blues Festival, with the newly-revamped Bucket of Blues, so come on down and say Hello!
